It's not all about Books! (well sort of)

The people that come into the bookstore are more than customers.  I learn a bit about their lives each time they visit the store.  I learn about their past lives and their hopes for the future.  I learn about their kids and their grand kids.  I can honestly say that I have come to know what their reading likes and dislikes are.  But most importantly I have come to know them and when I see them somewhere else say the supermarket or one of our other local stores I feel like I'm running into an old friend. It's true that all sorts of things can bring people together.  Books and the love of reading is a special thing.  I've had some non-readers (gasp!)  in the store and their passion is elsewhere...and that's ok!  I've learned that too.  I hope everyone finds that special book they can connect to...it's out there I just know it!  What's your special book or story?  Oh and by the way I just read Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern...loved it!  Words of caution:  it's what you call a really cute romance novel!

Hello there fellow Book lovers!

Just a quick update before the day is over.  Jd Mata performed at the bookstore tonight and it was an awesome show!   Wonderful stories about his life in LA, his film making adventures, and his great music skills.  We were proud to have him in our little bookstore!  He promised to be back in September, will keep you posted.  I'm off to do a little reading, had to put my book down yesterday and I haven't been able to get back to it.  It's another great mystery by Sandra Brown Tough Customer.  Too many books so little time!  What will you be reading before heading off to slumber land?

Mondays are for reading, so are Tuesdays, Wednesdays,...

Happy Monday!

Just think of Mondays as a fresh new start...they're not so bad.  Mondays are for new beginnings and new ideas.  I'm on my way to the bookstore now to see what my Monday holds for me!  It might be a slow day, but on the upside of this, I can start on a new book...more reading time for me!  I've been reading some romance mystery lately (not bad!) Sandra Brown to be exact.  Her books are definitely what you call page turners!  Boy meets girl because boy comes to the rescue when a bad killer wants to harm girl...you get the picture?  Not bad, a little romance with a lot of adventure!  What's you're favorite Sandra Brown novel?

Hello fellow Bibliomaniacs!

Good Morning Book Lovers!  Some of you probably stayed up late in order to finish that book you couldn't put down.  It's a brand new day!  Before I get started on the new day I want to tell you a bit about yesterday.  We had a busy day at the store..Yay!  I had a few customers that brought in some new (of course when I say new I mean gently used) books for credit ( I take your books and give you store credit so you in turn can take more books home!)  Don't worry I will explain the whole credit thing when you come in to visit us!  Anyway as I was saying..they brought in books so I have a a lot of "new" kid's books and some  teen reads too.  I'm also excited to say that we are cleaning up our back room in the store to open it up to our customers...one more room full of books for you to browse through!  Well I'm off to open the store!   Let's see what the day brings us...or should I say what adventure awaits us..I think that should be our new outlook on things...what do you think?

Books and more books!

Well hello everyone!  I have five minutes to write this so I will make this quick!  First I'd like to introduce myself...my name is Marty and I own a used bookstore in South Texas...and yes it is hot here!  So my dream of opening a small used bookstore is not going to make me rich, but since reading is my passion at least I am surrounded by all that rich literature...I know.. sounds a bit cheesy!  I'm off for now... about to open for the day so I will let you know how my day went later...Oh yes...before I forget!  What are you reading today??
